Behind the Scenes: My Consulting Business (with the actual pitch deck)

Who, exactly, are my clients and what, dare we ask, am I doing for them?!

Behind the Scenes: My Consulting Business (with the actual pitch deck)

As you may know, I started “hobby blogging” in 2019 as a distraction from the beautifully consuming chaos that is fertility treatment. Fast forward to today, I get to create and share my own world as I see fit in my spare time around being a mom.

Several months ago, someone who follow me on Instagram messaged asking questions about my methods: How do you edit your videos? Does a graphic designer make the collage? How did you contact the brand you worked with? Do you use one affiliate platform over another? Do you recommend batching content? How do you monetize? I sort of pushed the questions off and answered best I could in that small format. Shortly thereafter, I received the same inquiries from another follower so, instead of repeating my responses, I first spent some time considering the answers, formatting them into practices and policies that translate from me to another, and essentially sold the information in the form of a consultation meeting. A bit later, a third person reached out with very similar questions regarding how to best put Instagram to use as a business tool for a new enterprise. With my answers already in play, I took a deep dive into her business, customized my practices to align with her aspirations, and offered a video consultation (along with roadmap documents that she retains) on Instagram strategy. Which lead to a second consultation on LTK strategy. Which lead to creating the content for her Instagram account for one week. Which lead to a second week. Which lead to a customized marketing deck.

I currently have three clients: a personal stylist in Texas, a real estate broker in Charleston, and a jewelry designer in New York. (These consulting clients are different from brand clients, with whom I do paid influencer partnerships.)

The consulting clients each require something different within my menu of services:

  • Instagram logo and template branding

  • Instagram strategy

  • Instagram content creation

  • (I also offer LTK strategy in which I share everything I learned in my strategy sessions with LTK, including how to apply and be accepted to use the platform)

Let me explain what that means, to whom I refuse to compare myself, how I charge for it, and the lesson I’ve learned the hard way. I’m actually going to just show you the actual pitch deck that I customize to each client. Nobody shares that stuff and you know I love to be contrarian, so I will.

This post is offered to readers who contribute $8/month to access weekly content that shares a more personal and specific aspect of my life. Thank you to all of my subscribers for your interest!
